Early on in BaseCamp's development we decided to keep the number of destinations in which we worked small. This allowed us to focus our energies on building a strong foundation in each country. By doing so, we are able to deliver quality experiences and meaningful placements consistently through-out all of our locations.
Our organizational partners also benefit from this model as fewer volunteer locations allow us to deliver a more consistent supply of volunteers to organizations who have come to rely on BaseCamp volunteers as part of their team.
In each volunteer location we have our own staff. We do not outsource this support and we think that's important. By not outsourcing, our staff at home and abroad all work from the same manuals and report to the same managers. The result is that our program is delivered the same way with the same inclusions and the same level of support regardless of which country you choose. That is very difficult to achieve when the staff in each country all have different bosses, different rules and independent business objectives.
While we plan to 'keep it small', we are looking at taking on a few new countries in the coming year. We look forward to hearing your ideas about where you would like to see us grow. If you have an idea, please feel free to drop us a line. We would love your input!
