An elderly care volunteer at Carlos Maria Ulloa Elderly Care Home in San Jose, Costa Rica would assist staff in the physical, psychological and therapeutic care of the residents.
Personal support work volunteers assist organizations working with the elderly and with special needs clients requiring assistance. There are a range of placement locations from in-home care or long-term care facilities to classroom support.
There are placements for volunteers with all levels of training. While volunteers having completed a Personal Support Worker program are always valued, most placements can benefit from the assistance of volunteers who are simply willing to lend a hand.
Many institutions offering degrees in Personal Support Work require a practicum placement as part of their program. In many cases, our placements for overseas volunteers are appropriate for this type of experience. If you are a current student studying Personal Support Work and you would like to use your experience for your practicum, please outline the requirements of your institution in your application and our staff will make sure to select only the placement options that would be appropriate.
