Medical Technician

Medical technician volunteer placements are specifically seeking either medical lab technicians or medical imaging technicians. Other fields such as veterinary and dental assistants have their own categories.

Some medical technician placements are seeking volunteers who have completed their training and have experience while others also have placements appropriate for current students in these fields.

As a minimum, medical lab technician volunteers must be able to operate standard laboratory equipment, perform basic laboratory tasks, have knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques and safety precautions and have knowledge of basic laboratory terminology and laboratory hazards.

Medical imaging technician volunteers must either be a graduate or present student in the radiation technology field and their responsibilities would vary based on their level of training and experience. Volunteers would work with doctors and other medical staff to assist with diagnostic testing.
