Medical student volunteer placements are specifically for those currently in medical school or in their residency. Pre-med students should look at our medical internship programs for placement options that would be more appropriate.
The majority of our medical student placements require volunteers to have completed at least two years of their medical academic training. Volunteers’ duties would depend on the amount of training and experience they have received, but general duties for each placement are listed in the placement details that you can link to below.
There are some placements that focus on needs in specific departments such as emergency, maternity and oncology. However, most placements are looking for people to assist in multiple departments as demand dictates. Many placements also incorporate outreach programs that provide medical clinics for more rural communities who otherwise have difficulty accessing medical care.
