A construction and maintenance volunteer at Carlos Maria Ulloa Elderly Care Home in San Jose, Costa Rica would be involve in all chores related to maintaining this 1877 home.
Construction and Maintenance Volunteers help organizations with facility maintenance and small improvement projects. Given that most of the organizations with which BaseCamp works are small, community-driven initiatives, most struggle to find the funds simply to manage their on-going operations. As such, general facility maintenance and improvements are often re-prioritized leaving the organization's facilities to fall into disrepair.
The tasks and responsibilities of construction and maintenance volunteers vary greatly from placement to placement. Volunteers would often be taking part in general repairs and maintenance of placement facilities. This may include; bathroom renovations, roofing repairs, replacing doors and windows, painting, gardening, and much more. More advanced construction projects include; building emergency housing and major structural repairs of facilities like schools, orphanages or hospitals.
Below are listed several of our construction and maintenance volunteer positions.
