Animal and Wildlife Volunteering

Animal and wildlife volunteers can be placed in a variety of settings from remote parks and reserves to urban clinics and rehabilitation centers. The type of work in which volunteers can engage varies widely depending on the type of program and the skills of the volunteer. For example, veterinarian placements obviously require volunteers to be quite skilled and to have specific training. However, many wildlife advocacy and rehabilitation placements are mainly seeking the help of keen volunteers, willing to be flexible in their tasks, even if they have little specific skills or training.

Wildlife advocacy, veterinary, rescue and rehabilitation placement locations can range from rural areas to urban placements and generally volunteers will be able to choose a placement with the type of amenities with which they are most comfortable. However, all sea turtle placements require that volunteers live in remote beach camps. These are quite basic and volunteers at these placements need to be prepared to live in very rustic conditions.
