BaseCamp Tanzania first started accepting volunteers in 2007. Since that time, we have built a network of placements that cover most placement categories. We have also run several large group projects assisting local schools and orphanages.
Volunteers in Tanzania are in high demand for social and educational organizations working with youth. There are also several nursing and medical placements looking for help and we are just beginning to develop some fantastic wildlife and conservation placements.
One of the advantages of choosing a placement in Tanzania is that the language barrier here is fairly insignificant for the majority of our placements. Most people in the organizations with which we are working are able to comfortably communicate in English. As a result, volunteers have access to a wide range of placements without needing to first spend the time learning Swahili.
